A Short Biography of Aid Africa's Children
Aid Africa’s Children (AAC) began as a vision of three nurses, who organized a group of health professionals to administer medical supplies and treatment to African children devastated by poverty and AIDS. Their focus was providing emergency medical care and creating ongoing sources for food, access to fresh water, shelter, and medical assistance. What the nurses witnessed on their many mission trips to Africa, would change their lives forever. In June 2006, a team of dedicated volunteers (our Board of Directors and Officers) took this vision and helped to make it a reality by
creating Aid Africa’s Children, Inc. a Not For Profit Corporation with 501(c)(3) status.

Over 13,000,000 children have been orphaned by AIDS so far. According to the United Nations’ UNAIDS 2006 report on the Global AIDS Epidemic, almost 63% of all people living with AIDS globally live in sub-Saharan Africa (24.7 million in 2006). Aid Africa’s Children’s volunteers have provided HIV education for children and adults. They have also administered medication for diseases including tuberculosis, malaria, yellow fever, typhoid, dysentery, and impetigo.

Mission volunteers have rehabilitated rural hospitals and schools for children in South Africa and Nigeria. In cooperation with various pharmaceutical companies in the United States, our volunteers have supplied African villages with significant medical supplies, medicines and treatment plans for children suffering from various diseases. Through the use of mission teams we intend to continue the implementation of programs of crisis intervention (emergency medical treatment, food distribution, and obtaining fresh water); infrastructure development (rescuing and enhancing hospitals, supporting and funding orphanages, childcare centers and schools) and economic empowerment (supporting small businesses and community economic development programs that foster youth and adult vocational and entrepreneurial training). In working with strategic partners in care, presently in South Africa and Nigeria, we implement personal and community development programs, and expect to expand those partnerships throughout the Sub-Saharan African region.

Our objective is to provide basic assistance to sustain vulnerable children and their caregivers in a loving and caring environment. Our goal is to break the current cycle of disease and poverty by creating necessary resources for a healthy and thriving generation of African children.

It is with so many faithful, loving volunteers who have joined Aid Africa’s Children since our inception that we are able to do so much. So many generous people have poured out their hearts to help us make a difference. Aid Africa’s Children could not function without their tireless enthusiasm and generous heart fueling our cause.

THANKS to all of you - present and future volunteers of Aid Africa’s Children…you are making a difference in saving so many young lives!

Mission Teams

Aid Africa's Children sends mission teams to partner organizations in African countries regularly. Our teams are comprised of medical and non-medical personnel with skills to match the needs of our particular trip focus. Missioners spend almost one year preparing and planning for the trip. We raise our own personal support for trip expenses. People often ask to return with us on subsequent trips, as our ventures are enriching, life changing experiences. Ongoing relationships with our African friends continue after we return home, and become a crucial avenue of support and encouragement. Our partners in Africa repeatedly express their appreciation for our faithful commitment, telling us that we bring hope and life to their communities. Many missioners have said, that it is our lives that have been most blessed by having the opportunity to truly "make a difference".
