Aid Africa's Children Inc. has worked to improve the quality of life in Lethabong, a small rural community in South Africa, making a difference for families and vulnerable children affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS. Through education and economic support, we empower and assist Lethabong's community leaders to respond to the many crisis needs and challenges that face the poor and the HIV infected children and adults who flock to them for relief and sustenance. AAC's missioners have worked with Lethabong's own HIV/AIDS support group known as SISONKE, providing education programs for basic health care, life skills and donations of basic medical supplies. We’ve also offered financial aid, business development training and sales distribution outlets helping African artists sell their unusual handmade gift cards featuring African motifs printed from recycled paper. Because of the tragedy of numerous AIDS related deaths in this community, there are numerous teen age " head of household " orphans who are raising siblings. For the past two years Aid Africa's Children has provided emergency food relief in the form of "Christmas Parcels" to these young families. These teen orphans are exemplary, dedicated young people working diligently to raise their siblings while trying to complete their own education. Lethabong community has embraced this group of teens as the "SOUL SPARKLES".
AAC is in the process of collaborating with the community leaders in Lethabong to start a sponsorship program for these teen orphans and their families to provide funding for food, housing , clothing and education expenses.
